Alisha Explains It All... in the 90's.

So... we went to a nineties party.
As the name implies, the point was to show up in your best outfit representing that great great era of American fashion and culture: 1990 to 1999. Before Y2K happened, and everyone stopped wearing JNCO jeans, life was different. There was Seinfeld and Lunchables and Tamagatchis and Fruit Stripe gum and Saved By The Bell and Blossom and Clueless and Helen Hunt, and Britney Spears was still cute and Ricky Martin wasn't gay and Justin Timberlake hadn't gone solo and, of course, there were these clothes:

You missed the 90's didn't you? I can tell.

(These 2 pics are from the club sponsor's website, there was a photographer at the event going around taking everyone's picture- so that's why there is writing all over the photos.)
The next pictures are our personal ones. :)

Daniel's reaction to this photo? "Oh my GOD. I look like my father."

The full effect. Why have men stopped wearing jean shorts? Well, this picture may be the answer. Also, a big shout out to Auntie M- who bought me this amazing hat when I was 8 in 1993, and to Mom- who totally had this exact dress around the same time.

Our friend Greg actually still had his JNCO jeans from middle school.
And, possibly more incredibly, they still fit.
Also a shout out to the Commander in Chief of the Jazzy 90's: Bill Clinton.

Daniel and Peter, who was the organizer of this party.
Yes, Peter is wearing a Vanilla Ice t-shirt.

Rachel would like to remind you that in the 90's, there was no soup.

Daniel isn't just doing the Macarena...
he is doing the Macarena with a slap bracelet in his pocket.

Now EVERYONE is doing the Macarena.

Ta ta, lovelies! It's time to go back to the future!

Pig Goes to Washington, also Winston-Salem, and some other places.

Well. I'm still on tour. Here are some random (and out of order, sorry, I'm really bad at formatting on this blog-thing) pictures from what we have been up to recently.

Ok, so this is NOT recent, but early in our tour we walked through what was essentially a blizzard in Philadelphia to get to our venue. What dedication.

In Daniel's absence, I am forced to consume enormous plates of nachos.

Ok... so here's the out of order part. Some how a couple pictures of DC ended up here, although the rest of the DC pics are at the end of this post. Consider these teasers... :)

We get oh so bored at the hotels. One night, Erin and I had an evening of beauty,
and the boys were so jealous, they decided to join in.
Who says pore-minimizing face masks are just for the ladies?

The motivation for this picture to be taken was me pointing out that the cookies one venue provided for us were FAR inferior to basically everything Mom makes.
"Mom's are better."
.....

Erin and I are besties.

Super cute cafe we ate lunch at (interestingly named Soho Cafe) in Savannah, GA.

In Georgia, our cargo van broke down and we had to use a UHaul.
No one felt that fantastic about this.
It looks like Talia is happy in this picture, but she isn't really.

While waiting for the van to be towed, Erin and I wandered Savannah on our own, taking Forrest Gump-inspired pictures.
"Mama always told me life was like a box of chocolates..."
....

Finally, the cargo van is towed.
TAKE IT AWAY! PLEASE! NO ONE WILL MISS IT!

Back in DC, we visit the Smithsonian, where Julia Child still lives....

...Including her enormous collection of gorgeous copper cookware!!!
I thought of stealing it, but didn't feel like spending the rest of tour in jail.

Driving the van the next afternoon with Erin on one of our many field trips to Wal-Mart.

Back in DC again (I told you these were out of order!) and it is SUPER hot.
"Jeremy! Wear your sunscreen!!"

I miss Florida!
(Erin pointed out that this is at a war memorial, so I shouldn't look so happy. Oh well.)

"Hey! Take a picture of me and the Washington Monument!"
"Um, Alisha, the monument is on the other side."
"Much better."

* Love and kisses to all!! Can't wait to visit when tour is over! *

If You Give A Pig A Pancake!

Here are some random photos taken from these first couple months of our tour... so you can see who I'm hanging out with all day, every day. :)

This is Nick. This is our backstage area of some school, somewhere. :)
Nick is very funny and plays the Male 2 roles.

This is Rafi. He is our stage manager and wears this outfit every day.
Every single day.

Left to right: Erin, me, Talia (the three ladies in the show. We're awesome.)

This is a picture of the fur on the hood of my coat.
THOSE ARE SNOWFLAKES. REAL ONES.
ACTUAL, FALLING OUT OF THE SKY SNOWFLAKES!
I had no idea they looked like that in real life.

Me and Erin rocking out in the cargo van.

Erin and Talia somewhere in Michigan. Talia went to school in Ann Arbor,
so she wore her Michigan hat the whole time we were in the state...
probably to appear more like the locals. :)

Before the show one morning. Not sure why Nick looks so weird.

Back row, L to R: Erin, Corey, Nick
Kneeling in front: Talia
Off to R side: obviously, me.
This picture is kind of only funny in context with the show...
it's a pose that kind of happens in one of the scenes.
But I include it anyway. :)

SNOW!

Left to Right: Tyler, Erin, me, Rafi, Talia, Nick, Corey.
Basically, we took this picture as proof to all
unbelievers that Rafi really wears shorts in the snow.

We all ordered pancakes one morning, and took pictures eating them.

At one venue, they had us sign a brick backstage... it's a tradition for
all companies that come through to sign one. It made us feel famous.

One morning early on in tour, coming back through the city and waiting for the 1 train.
I was unhappy because it was taking forever to come.

We went to this one amazing place somewhere in Jersey called "Kim's In The Mix"
which was this soulfood diner and I ate OXTAILS and they were FANTASTIC!

At "Kim's In The Mix". We took a picture with
Kim, her mom and her husband, who helps cook.

More eating pictures. You'd think we were on tour to eat
rather than perform for children! But seriously, I'm so tired of eating out.

In Philly, at the place where we got cheesesteaks.
I broke this icicle off the roof and turned myself into a unicorn.

Talia's birthday was last week, so we went out to celebrate!
Left to Right: Tyler, Erin (both behind), Talia, Corey, me, Nick, Rafi.

One day we were bored and found a mall and spent the afternoon in a JCPenny dressing room trying on ugly prom dresses and doing a photo shoot. :) Its all inside!

Christmas in the City (and Ithaca)

So... this is a belated collection of sledding in Ithaca / Christmas in Sunnyside pictures that are long overdue to be posted!

Going sledding with Daniel, Rosa and Abby (the dog) :)

Abby was in everyone's way. She really just wanted to go sledding too.

So Daniel threw her this stick to distract her...

And now... Christmas in Sunnyside...
Gorgeous homemade Christmas Eve dinner.
Mom: note my garlic green beans! Dad: note the duck and mashed potatoes!
Both of you: note that I love and use my elephant salt and pepper shakers. :)

He's so cute when he makes glaze for roast duck.

Look at all the presents!!

Kate gave us a mistletoe headband in our stocking... so we had to try it out.

Daniel made a beautiful Christmas morning breakfast
of challah French toast, kielbasa and mimosas... watch out, Sisters! ;)

Rosa and I made cookies and... recognize the fabulous plate they're being displayed on??

For Christmas night dinner I made stuffed peppers and Daniel made tabouleh...mmmmm.

Kate and her tabouleh.

Yay, Christmas!
